In the next week I'm setting up a 29 gal and two ten gal shrimp tanks im going to be using ada amazona substrate .Sponge filters, lots of plants. The 29 is going to be for rcs.The ten gal tanks are going to be for color morphs of neo shrimp. I'm looking forward to breeding all of these shrimp
Thats awesome Brad. The Amazonia is an excellent soil. Keep in mind there is an extended cycle time before the tank will be ready for shrimp. This soil and some others will leach ammonia while cycling and can take 4-8 weeks. Once its cycled, it is very stable for 2+ years and is an excellent choice if you decide to get caridina shrimp later on as it will buffer toward softer, slightly acidic parameters which is perfect for Bee shrimp as well as neos.
